Very nice summer read
Interesting and good writing.
Poetic, Very Poetic
This re-imagining of the classical mythological material featuring Geryon, a red, winged monster whose red cattle were stolen by Herakles, is rooted only very tenuously in its source material, the better to allow poet Anne Carson the greatest freedom for her dense, stylish language to unfold in this novel in verse..
I don't think I've loved any book as much as I love this book
I don't think I've loved any book as much as I love this book.
Five Stars
One of her best.
Very tough read
I've been trying to read this on the recommendation of a friend.
Five Stars
I love this book.
Poetry that seems to eke very sharply at the Heart of Our Common Colour
I knew halfway into this book that it was going to grapple with me for its final rating.
A beautiful, heart-wrenching tale
Anne Carson's acclaimed Autobiography of Red is, perhaps, her most celebrated work - a tale about the life of an artist, of adolescent love and the searing impression which our childhood makes on the rest of our lives.
Sloppy, pretentious and a waste of time.
Whether this book is poetry or not, is of no interest to me.
It has become one of my favorite books
I finished this book and it felt like someone had opened my ribcage and put something in that wasn't there before.
